  • No. Commercial sale of returned Apollo lunar samples is restricted by law. We use high-fidelity lunar regolith simulants—chemically, mineralogically, and structurally as close as possible to genuine lunar soil gathered during the Apollo missions. (90–95% particle size match before mulling and 80-85% mineralogical fidelity).

  • Pigment: High-energy ball-milled lunar mare regolith simulant (Bronzite: 32.8%, Basalt: 32.0%, Anorthosite: 19.8%, Olivine: 11.1%, Ilmenite: 4.3%).

Oil Paint Binder: Pure Age-Refined linseed oil and 1% fumed silica (an optically neutral, chemically inert mineral agent that maintains suspension without softening the paint film or dulling color).

Watercolor Binder: a historical solution of gum arabic, sugar syrup, glycerin, plus a small amount of a preservative commonly used in cosmetics to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and mold.

Zero Fillers: No chalk, beeswax, aluminum stearate, or synthetic extenders.

  • Ultra-Smooth Consistency: Extended high-energy ball milling fractures hard basaltic minerals into fine, sub-micron pigment particles—eliminating grit for a silky, velvety paint film.

Optical Depth vs. Flat Oxides: Synthetic darks (like Mars Black) absorb light uniformly to create a flat, lifeless surface. Micro-milled lunar glass and crystalline minerals refract light internally, creating atmospheric depth with a refined matte finish.

  • An archival (ASTM Category I), lightfast neutral dark engineered to feel like standard professional colors on the brush.

Complex natural mineralogy provides optical depth, subtle gray undertones, and light-scattering properties synthetic iron oxides cannot replicate.

Connects classical studio practice directly to humanity’s off-world future, embedding authentic extraterrestrial mineralogy into the physical medium of your painting.

  • Yes. Because our paint is fully dispersed and tubed in linseed oil or our watercolor binder, there is no loose dust to inhale. It contains no heavy metals, lead, or toxic driers, and handles like traditional earth colors on your palette.
